Steve Marks
Steve worked for 23 years as a city lawyer in London and was a partner at Trowers and Hamlins and Maxwell Winward. He transacted over £2bn worth of real estate deals encompassing the office, leisure, retail, healthcare residential and hotel sectors. He worked with Uk institutions and overseas investors from the Middle East, South Africa, Asia and Scandinavia. Notable deals include the refinancing of the Bulgari Hotel Knightsbridge and the financing of the L’Oscar hotel Holborn.
Additionally Steve has advised real estate investors and developers on sustainability, wellness and ESG and he is accredited with the International Well Building Institute and the Global Wellness Institute.
In the last few years Steve ran the Portugal operations for Hg Real Estate – a Swiss based multi-family office – and has successfully acquired buildings for international investors in Lisbon where he is based. He remains active in the Iberian real estate markets now with his own advisory company – Direction Investments – and focusses on the Hospitality and Living sectors and working with European Family Offices’s investments.
Steve has an MA in Jurisprudence from Oxford University and speaks conversational Portuguese.
